Eid-ul-Fitr (also called Eid-al-Fitr) is a festival which
marks the end of the holy Islamic month of Ramadan, an auspicious period when
people following Muslim religion across the world fast from dawn to dusk. This month-long
religious festival of fasting and offering prayers is celebrated according to
the Muslim calendar every year. The calendar is based on the various phases of
the moon, and so the night of Eid-ul-Fitr can be celebrated on different days
in different parts of the world, depending on the moon's visibility.
